Understanding Duality
What is duality? The mind seeks continuity as the entity that is thought. That continuity is the self as the movement of thought, which is time. That separated individuality is the duality of the self which is projecting its dual nature. But it is much deeper than that. Because thought its self is duality all that is accumulated is conceptualized as having a dual nature. Thought as the self projects its duality into all of its derived concepts. All that is not the self stands in opposition as the reality of the projected. All opposition is viewed as a defined position. Position exist as the duality of opposition. When one defines, assigns a meaning or value, one creates duality. As one accumulates knowledge that knowledge is utilized to strengthen the polarizing effects of duality. So all concepts have an opposite or dual nature. Things are defined as black or white or in shades of gray. Thought as the separated self which is seeking continuity, creates conceptual duality in all experiences. Duality is the perception of choice. The illusion of the ability to determine the future through choices. It is the projection of the duality of self as time.
Can a person escape the duality of a mind that is creating the conflict of opposition? One should realize that it is not possible to escape or change the self. There is no such thing as transformation of the self. The self is the product of the movement of thought as time. The self remains forever what it is, the illusion of thought as the continuity of what was. There is only the understanding of what is and through that understanding there is the dissipation of self which is the origin of duality. Dissipation does not mean that you are experiencing Nirvana, it means that you have realized the true self. Nirvana is a concept that is bandied about as some sort of ecstatic state of joy and knowing. Its all B.S. , forget Nirvana for the moment and realize the true self that exist only in the absolute moment. The dissipation of self is not an end to a means it is the simply the natural outcome of a mind that is free of all the illusions of the self created. Within that freedom is understanding of the timeless, that which has no beginning and no end.
