Ideation and Symbolism
Ideation is the process of memorializing the moment as the mind defines its limits. So the moment becomes the memory of a process which has a defined and symbolic place in time. The mind is influenced greatly through the emotion that is attached to a given memory. One's entire day or even life may be attached to a given circumstance which being held in memorial affects one psychologically. These deep psychological memories are why we are unable to move to a level of understanding that is without our conditioning. Conditioned responses are always of the past and incomplete. When we meet the moment with the past, confusion and conflict is always the result. The illusion of the ideal takes hold. We cannot see the reality of the moment because it is clouded with the past. A person is not consciously aware that the moment has been displaced and overlooked by the conditioning of a mind that is still living in the idealism of symbols and beliefs. Belief has no place in the moment because it overshadows the true reality of the moment. We escape into the what should be (belief) and so we miss the reality of what is. There is no truth save the reality of the absolute moment.
How is it possible for us to realize this freedom from the past, the known. First one must realize how completely conditioned your life is. How that everything you do and say is primarily the result of a compilation of what has gone on before. What you know and believe is a projection of the content of a conditioned consciousness. You are essentially a Monkey doing what you have been programed to do. A brainwashed automaton that clings to silly superstitions and mindless religious and political dribble that turns you into a herd animal with little original insight into the humanity of the momentary. But if you can realize this in a moment of total clarity, the self ceases to be an element of definition and belief, one sees for the first time without reference. And what one realizes cannot be defined or in any way become a memory. It is the total dissipation of the one who knows and what is known. And now in the absolute moment there is peace of mind that cannot be touched by thoughts machinations.
