Its Not About You
"I think therefore I am". But what is the "I am"? Is it an amalgamation of sensory perception that creates an image to be interpreted and therefore defined? What does it mean to think? What is the nature of thought? As a thinking entity I realize that in order to survive I must create a habitat of security. An environment that is conducive to my desire for continuity on a physical level. But thought is a two edged sword. On the one hand it is an essential part of our instinct for survival and on the other hand it is the beginning of our penchant for conflict and violence. So what is the one element in our psyche that takes us from mere survival to the violence of identity and its projection of mine and yours. Surely it is the reality of attachment to that which defines and seeks to further define the self or the "I am". The me and the not me which is the translation of sought after definition through acquisition and the pursuit of power in its many forms. It can be the power of property, money, religion, politics or a pair of tennis shoes. All of these things can contribute to ones perception of a defined image. So the element that we speak of is the minds duality, that which separates and individualizes our personal reality and causes us to compare and conclude based on what we think we know. It is the illusion of the projection of ones accumulated knowledge as the reality of the moment. When the reality of the moment is about the one who thinks that reality is always the illusion of yesterday or memory. The absolute moment is not about you, its not "about" anything. When you look with a mind that is free of yesterday then you are able to "see". What you see is the newness of that moment with a clarity of understanding that is not contaminated with seeking what should be as the projection of ones own image (characterized as the ideals contained in ones beliefs).
Sometimes I go online and read "Buddhist" blogs and am amazed at how much people want to make what the Buddha taught into a religion with the mechanics of organization and ritual. Levels of achievement to signify authority are what are sought instead of understanding the self and why someone would want something to worship to begin with. People continue to seek that which cannot be found through the "steps" of a religious pursuit. The centuries of monks and so called enlightened masters with there formulations and "Buddhist" systems have all but destroyed Buddha's original message. Its all garbage, you don't need to follow anyone or any system. It is the only way that you will realize the truth of the selfless. All the nonsense has to be put away, one needs to be totally empty. You cannot be an emptiness if you are filling your heads with all sorts of "Buddha" and "Buddhist" junk. All has to be done away with , there must be nothing, only the total freedom of the absolute moment. The path is pathless, it is original in the moment self realization that is without any connection to what has gone on before. A person can feel the release in there psyche. It is the simplicity of not knowing of coming to a place of total exhaustion, of letting go and accepting the truth of the moment. It is a freedom that cannot be known though the tenets of a "religion" whether Buddhist or any other. After all its not about the "you".
