Its Not About You

"I think therefore I am". But what is the "I am"? Is it an amalgamation of sensory perception that creates an image to be interpreted and therefore defined? What does it mean to think? What is the nature of thought? As a thinking entity I realize that in order to survive I must create a habitat of security. An environment that is conducive to my desire for continuity on a physical level. But thought is a two edged sword. On the one hand it is an essential part of our instinct for survival and on the other hand it is the beginning of our penchant for conflict and violence. So what is the one element in our psyche that takes us from mere survival to the violence of identity and its projection of mine and yours. Surely it is the reality of attachment to that which defines and seeks to further define the self or the "I am". The me and the not me which is the translation of sought after definition through acquisition and the pursuit of power in its many forms. It can be the power of property, money, religion, politics or a pair of tennis shoes. All of these things can contribute to ones perception of a defined image. So the element that we speak of is the minds duality, that which separates and individualizes our personal reality and causes us to compare and conclude based on what we think we know. It is the illusion of the projection of ones accumulated knowledge as the reality of the moment. When the reality of the moment is about the one who thinks that reality is always the illusion of yesterday or memory. The absolute moment is not about you, its not "about" anything. When you look with a mind that is free of yesterday then you are able to "see". What you see is the newness of that moment with a clarity of understanding that is not contaminated with seeking what should be as the projection of ones own image (characterized as the ideals contained in ones beliefs).

Sometimes I go online and read "Buddhist" blogs and am amazed at how much people want to make what the Buddha taught into a religion with the mechanics of organization and ritual. Levels of achievement to signify authority are what are sought instead of understanding the self and why someone would want something to worship to begin with. People continue to seek that which cannot be found through the "steps" of a religious pursuit. The centuries of monks and so called enlightened masters with there formulations and "Buddhist" systems have all but destroyed Buddha's original message. Its all garbage, you don't need to follow anyone or any system. It is the only way that you will realize the truth of the selfless. All the nonsense has to be put away, one needs to be totally empty. You cannot be an emptiness if you are filling your heads with all sorts of "Buddha" and "Buddhist" junk. All has to be done away with , there must be nothing, only the total freedom of the absolute moment. The path is pathless, it is original in the moment self realization that is without any connection to what has gone on before. A person can feel the release in there psyche. It is the simplicity of not knowing of coming to a place of total exhaustion, of letting go and accepting the truth of the moment. It is a freedom that cannot be known though the tenets of a "religion" whether Buddhist or any other. After all its not about the "you".

No Tought No Title

If we go deeper into this realization of freedom that has no connection to a self created conceptual model then perhaps we will see the true newness of the moment. The mind is forever creating images that are a result of the known and knowing. You may see that the mind creates it own reality from moment to moment. That reality is the product of its accumulations. The mind views this conceptual reality as separate from the creator. This is the work of minds dualistic nature. If you realize, are aware and see in the moment that the creator and what it creates are one in the same then you will break through thoughts continuity or continuation of what has been. You will be a new person from moment to moment. One will be "experiencing" in the moment an intelligence that goes beyond the known and sees the truth of the non-dual and selfless.

Such a mind is innocent and without the least bit of remorseful memory. There is only the absolute moment and that moment contains the reality of the true self that is without what has been or what will be. You might be thinking, "how is it possible to live such a life?....good grief human beings cannot go where you want to take them". But you must realize that it is your humanity that allows you go beyond your own self imposed limitations. You always remain who you are. You cannot erase your memories and suddenly be somebody or something that you are not. All humans have the extraordinary ability to be aware, awareness that allows the mind to realize its own movement through the illusion of time/space. Out of that acute awareness it is possible to realize an intelligence that understands without limitation. It is understanding that is simplicity born out of the minds own complexity. In the very first blog that I wrote, over two years ago, I mentioned transformation. What is it that transforms? You are still the same person that you have always been, with essentially the same personality. The difference is awareness, one realizes the truth of the self in each moment which overrides the minds compulsion to continue down its projected pathway, its programed and conditioned responsiveness. One acts out of character so to speak. It is the changeless change. Transformation and illumination is moment to moment, it is not a static state of enlightenment in which you suddenly become this master of knowing. It is a state of not knowing of seeing the true self, which is the negation of all that you have accumulated. "Experiencing" freedom that has no point of reference and is not the result of the activities of the self that knows. So whatever you are thinking...be aware of the origin of thought and the one who is thinking, stay with the moment and perhaps something will occur that has nothing to do with "you".

A Defined Life

Moving though a life that is psychologically defined by a persons conditioned consciousness is a life of contradiction and conflict. Is it possible for you to see in the moment just how utterly and completely controlled you are by the minds attachments? How that you have self hypnotized yourself into believing in your own self created ideals. Ideals that are the result of your insecurity and fear. Are you the result of your past? The projection of a self that is the image of what has been, the conditioning of a mind that exist in yesterdays perceived shortcomings and accomplishments. As long as you exist as the definition of what was, you will forever be seeking what should be. In the absolute moment you are undefined and unattached. If the mind moves through time/space seeking that which defines then one is escaping the truth of the absolute moment. The truth of the absolute moment is absent an ideological self or defined individuality.

This is freedom that is without a reference point. Freedom that has no origin and is not the result of any activity of the self. Such a mind has the clarity to see the moment not in terms of himself or herself, but that which is not a movement through time. It is meditation that is absent the one who meditates. If you think in terms of an "individualistic goal oriented existence" then all that is realized is fraught with the conflict of seeking and finding. What is found is "temporal illusion" which is absent any depth of understanding. One either understands each moment as it occurs independent of a self that is a product of the known or one is caught in "what should be" projected as a desired future. So a defined life is one that is planned and executed according to and predicated on ones self delusion.

When you live a defined existence you are dependent on psychological ideals that are ingrained in the mind. Dependency means attachment. Attachment that is the root cause of much emotional disturbance. Dependency creates an atmosphere of mutual exploitation that leads to suspicion, fear and ultimately psychological or physical violence. How does one exist in a society that is attached and dependent? Is it possible to be free from such an existence? Freedom is not a result of something. If it is then it is just another form of dependency. A person cannot "get free" or "cause freedom to happen". It is simply a state of existence that is the outcome of a mind that is totally aware of the reality of the moment. That awareness creates a capacity in ones consciousness that sees into the nature of attachment and dependency. That seeing and realization is its own action in the moment. Then one does not live the ideal of freedom, one simply is that freedom. Freedom that is not an ideal is the essence of simplicity. A life that is free and without definition is a life of simplicity and intelligence.
