A Sense of Belonging
In the human consciousness there is the desire to band together to form units of common interest and to create an atmosphere of identity and security. The mind seeks a sense of belonging because it is endlessly searching for an environment that will satisfy the perceived need for self identity. Psychologically if a person can identify with others then they feel that they are not alone. Aloneness is a very deep psychological fear. It is the one thing that the self must escape from in order to maintain the conditioning of the status quo. If you are totally alone is there the other? If there is not the other then are you a defined individual? If one is identified or defined by associations and beliefs then one is the separated, the divided. Division creates the conflict of position and opposition. Can you see that if you understand completely the minds desire for identification and commonality and its resulting conflict that you can be free of it? But one must be totally aware of the subtlety of the self, otherwise you may get caught in identification with "nonconformity" as a substitution of the mind that seeks identification. Then "non-identification" becomes ones "position". You are still caught in the illusion of a self that is seeking identity and definition. So one must continue to negate the self as it moves through space/time substituting one illusion for another. Then one may come to a state in which there is realization of the whole field of thought-self-accumulation and identity. If there is total realization, that is one sees in the moment the futility of the whole dynamic, then there is an illumination that transcends thoughts image. Within that aloneness, which the conditioned self avoids, is the intelligence of a mind that is unconditioned. A mind that is not caught in or affected by the turmoil of position and opposition.
So if you have had the realization then you are totally free, you do not "belong" to anything. There is no psychological need for the "therapy" of a group of like thinkers. Since you are not seeking to be divided and identified or defined you are free to love unconditionally without the agenda of that which is sought. A person sees through the projected illusion of a self that is seeking the security of ideological agreement. This does not mean that one is to avoid all contact with groups of people and there agenda's. A person who lives in the illumination of the moment is a light to all. Those that such a being comes into contact with are changed in that moment and consciously or subconsciously realize the non threatening presence of one who is without motive or position.
When you are free and totally in the moment there is no self that is acquiring or issuing. Your communication is a reflection of those that you communicate with. One mirrors the activity of non being that is absent a discriminating mind that is seeking reason and purpose. If one does not belong to any defined or named entity or organization and one is also devoid of self promotion then what is the state of such a mind? Is it not a mind that is totally at peace with all humanity and ones environment as a whole?
