The Reflection of Self

All existence lives in relationship. The world reflects the truth of our conditioned existence. If a person is illuminated, that is one sees into the origin of all that is the creation of self, then there is an understanding. That understanding is without any motivating factors that are the result of opinion and conclusion. When one truly understands there is insight that is the outcome of the realization of self that is reflected in all relationships. Ones relationships mirror the self. When a person realizes that they are the other then there is realization of the true self in that absolute moment. It is the dissipation of the duality of observer and observed. One can understand this on a conceptual level, but that understanding is superficial. A superficial understanding seeks to find further meaning and definition. There is no finality in ones understanding. The self still grapples with the ideal of dual and non-dual. In the dissipation of a self that knows there is neither dual nor non-dual there is only what is in that moment which is the truth of the unknown.

When one sees the reflection of self in others there is realization of an unconditioned consciousness. A consciousness that is without judgement, that realizes that which is selfless, that which is without image or definition. Such a mind is no mind, the absence of all that references, that seeks. Such is the peace of that which is and is not in the same moment. It is the meditation of the timeless. Timeless awareness that is the total dissipation of the self.

Those that are caught in the illusion of a self that knows, must project confusion, conflict, and violence. It is the way of a person that is attached, identified and defined. But if a person can see in the moment the reflection of all that is the conflict of the self in the other, in our relationships, then one begins to understand the origin of all conflict. When you realize that you are the conflict and that it is not something separate from you, then there is an illumination into the death of all that is the conditioning of what was. It is rebirth as that which has never been, the enlightened state of the unconditioned and the unknown. It is the outcome of an awareness that is without choice or discrimination, that is free of all seeking, that is timeless.

The Serenity of the Moment

There are many that talk about the moment, the "now", they write books and create a following. But true realization of the moment is not something that is acquired or that you learn. Its not something that is formulated by the self nor is it a state of knowing that empowers. All that is purported by those who claim to know, is simply a projected idealistic image of self aggrandizement. For this reason there is no real change, no transforming realization that comes from the core of ones being. Illumination of the moment comes from within. All external knowledge purporting to bring it to light are a hindrance to the dissipation of that which is seeking. When there is seeking there is the self that is at the fore front of all that deceives and keeps one in illusion. A person has to lay the groundwork for the possibility of something that is not a product of thought as the image of that which acquires.

The mind must free its self of all images of spiritual acquisition and superiority. One must be vulnerable to life, unassuming and without an ego/self that is demanding an experience. Whatever one experiences is the product of a mind that is caught in its own desire. Desire is prompted by belief, which is the result of a self that is seeking. What it finds is the illusion of the self created. So the "Power" that you think you have acquired is really the illusion of the self absorbed and nothing more. It will make you feel good about yourself temporarily, but you will find that you have to continually re-read it in a attempt to recapture the initial psychological impact. Then one day you discover that it has diminished or lost its meaning, the immunity of the self kicks in.

So the truth of the moment is not a result of something learned or acquired. It is the outcome of freedom from knowing and from a self that is seeking. When one is truly in the absolute moment there is the transcendency of a consciousness that is without accumulation or definition. One realizes a serenity that is not artificially made to happen by an activity of the self. It is a state of existence that is totally absent the conditioning of thoughts self image. In that moment there is realization of the true self, that which is unconditioned.

A Sense of Belonging

In the human consciousness there is the desire to band together to form units of common interest and to create an atmosphere of identity and security. The mind seeks a sense of belonging because it is endlessly searching for an environment that will satisfy the perceived need for self identity. Psychologically if a person can identify with others then they feel that they are not alone. Aloneness is a very deep psychological fear. It is the one thing that the self must escape from in order to maintain the conditioning of the status quo. If you are totally alone is there the other? If there is not the other then are you a defined individual? If one is identified or defined by associations and beliefs then one is the separated, the divided. Division creates the conflict of position and opposition. Can you see that if you understand completely the minds desire for identification and commonality and its resulting conflict that you can be free of it? But one must be totally aware of the subtlety of the self, otherwise you may get caught in identification with "nonconformity" as a substitution of the mind that seeks identification. Then "non-identification" becomes ones "position". You are still caught in the illusion of a self that is seeking identity and definition. So one must continue to negate the self as it moves through space/time substituting one illusion for another. Then one may come to a state in which there is realization of the whole field of thought-self-accumulation and identity. If there is total realization, that is one sees in the moment the futility of the whole dynamic, then there is an illumination that transcends thoughts image. Within that aloneness, which the conditioned self avoids, is the intelligence of a mind that is unconditioned. A mind that is not caught in or affected by the turmoil of position and opposition.

So if you have had the realization then you are totally free, you do not "belong" to anything. There is no psychological need for the "therapy" of a group of like thinkers. Since you are not seeking to be divided and identified or defined you are free to love unconditionally without the agenda of that which is sought. A person sees through the projected illusion of a self that is seeking the security of ideological agreement. This does not mean that one is to avoid all contact with groups of people and there agenda's. A person who lives in the illumination of the moment is a light to all. Those that such a being comes into contact with are changed in that moment and consciously or subconsciously realize the non threatening presence of one who is without motive or position.

When you are free and totally in the moment there is no self that is acquiring or issuing. Your communication is a reflection of those that you communicate with. One mirrors the activity of non being that is absent a discriminating mind that is seeking reason and purpose. If one does not belong to any defined or named entity or organization and one is also devoid of self promotion then what is the state of such a mind? Is it not a mind that is totally at peace with all humanity and ones environment as a whole?

The Subtlety of Violence

What is the true nature of violence? Is it just an action that causes physical or psychological harm or is it much deeper than that? We have to go beyond the simple definition that is the reflection of experience. One must find the truth that is beyond the ideal. The truth of violence is within the mind of each individual and is manifested in the collective consciousness. To understand violence one must start with ones own mind. How that the mind creates the dynamic of position and opposition. Thought is discriminatory, it measures, weighs and arrives at an opinion or conclusion. It is the prison of the known. If I teach you something or give you hope or provide some kind of ideology that provides a perceived relief from the unknown, am I not being violent toward you? Am I not providing a means to further anxiety and confusion?

When we think in terms of the self, of what is beneficial to the self as an individual entity, then one creates a position that eventually becomes a barrier to further understanding. Psychologically one becomes steadfast in belief and opinion. Can it be seen that, very subtly, this is the beginning of violent intent. It is difficult to fully realize the core event that is the seed of all violence. In reality the violence that we are, starts with self inflicted feelings of inadequacy over the perceived image of what we are not. Because we are forever in the throes of being and becoming, all that we encounter becomes the basis for the possibility of violent response in some form. Response can be in the form of thought as conclusion and opinion or it can be on a physical level. Because the nature of thought is grounded in the illusion of individuality, the self must constantly be in a mode of psychological reassertion. This activity of reassertion is the beginning of all violence. It is so because in order to reassert one has to oppose something. That opposition is the violence of position, belief or whatever one wants to call it.

Now is it possible to see, to realize that there is no such thing as nonviolence, there is only violence, not its opposite. Its opposite nonviolence is just violence in another form. Can you grasp the reality of this without a mind that is trying to define and label. If you can look at yourself in the moment, what you actually are, you will realize that you have always been violent and that it permeates your very being. Seeing directly without reference to what is written on this page or elsewhere can you realize this very moment what you actually are. If you can then all violence is ended in this moment. As you realize and see in each and every preceding moment you will die to the self that was and be reborn as that which has never been. It is the intelligence of the true self, the unconditioned.
