Independent Thought and Freedom
There is no such thing as independent thought. All thought is dependent on a mind that has been conditioned by the past. That dependence is due to the fact that we have allowed are minds to be subjected to the duality of systematic belief. Because we believe we desire, and what we desire is the result of all of our accumulated memories. The mind is clouded with all of its competing and contradictory desires. How can such a mind ever find peace? Whatever we add in the way of efforts to find peace only further complicates and confuses. A person can go to another for help (spiritual or otherwise), one can read books, go to classes, get certificates of accomplishment but in the end this only adds more junk to what is already in one's head. More stuff to sort through, categorize, and believe in. Do you realize in this absolute moment, how you have been manipulated by the junk that is in your head. How over exposed to outside influences you have allowed yourself to become. The fact that you are reading this Blog should be enough evidence to affirm that.
Since this entire Blog (all 290 of them) is about freedom and the minds illusion of how to find it, one should read on. One cannot study the ideal of freedom and suddenly be free. Freedom is not an accomplishment, it is a state of existence. It is realized through the negation of the self that thinks it knows. The self and what it knows are not two separate entities. They are one in the same. For the mind to be free it must see the totality of thought as a conditioned entity that exist only idealistically. To "see" without thoughts interference. You may say that it is not possible. But try looking without reaction. What happens? Is the mind still, not moving into its usual mechanisms of understanding? Just simple observation without the one who observes. At this level of awareness we are not making a judgement or looking for an experience. We are simply being aware of the inner and outer movement of the self. As you go about your life routines this awareness can be a transforming process. It will increase one's understanding of how and why ones' conditioned consciousness creates its own neurosis. Then one day freedom will find you and you will experience peace of mind without thoughts interference.
