Clarity and Community
The mind is constantly trying to find a space in time in which it can reside without fear. The conundrum is that it is constantly creating and recreating the fear which it seeks to escape. When their is fear their can be no understanding. No clarity in which one is capable of "seeing" the truth of the moment. Fear is all around us. It is the major element of religion and politics. To get people to follow a path and to believe there must be an element of fear. It is quite primordial in that one has buried in ones consciousness an innate desire to believe in the superstitious or the organizational. That which cannot seemingly be explained or that one cannot exist without. But when a person has clarity that is the result of the dissipation of all systems of belief or reliance on organizational solutions, then realizing the truth of the moment is a possibility.
Clarity in a very real sense involves letting go of ones perceptions as defined by a conditioned mind. The minds accumulations "color" what is experienced. You are conditioned to understand and respond according to what you know as the opinions and judgements of the past. So response is not a matter of the reality of the moment, but rather perception through an incomplete and erroneous ideal. An ideal that is the result of the past. Why is an ideal erroneous? Because true reality is only in the moment. The moment is the only truth. An ideal is a fantasy of "what should be" as understood by a conditioned mind. A person can use the past to avoid and negate but not to understand actual reality. Looking with a fresh mind allows you to have compassion and understanding that goes beyond the "known".
Clarity creates community. A oneness that exist outside of the "self that knows". Is it possible to understand that we exist totally in relationship to one another and to what we perceive as our environment? We are not separate. Separation is a product of a divisive mind. A mind that exist in an ideological fantasy. We exist because of all that is. What is, is reality and that reality is the essence of who we are. When we escape into the ideal then we are bound by fear and invariably use violence as a tool of indoctrination. Without realizing it we kill truth and the possibility of something new not touched by the recriminations of the past. The only way that we can live in community is to allow the moment to be what it is. The existence of community is a fact, whether we choose to accept it or not. To commune is to set aside our fear of the unknown and to embrace our humanity. Embrace it as if it were what gives us life. Because without it we extinguish the possibility of a consciousness that goes beyond the self.
