Belief and Attachment

We were in a discussion about the minds tendency to seek validation for its beliefs. The mind that is caught in attachment to a belief be it religious, spiritual, political or social always seeks the validation of that attachment. When you think from a position or agenda then the mind creates validated scenarios that seem factual and lead one to further believe in that position. But the illuminated mind does not reason from a position. Such a mind looks at the truth of the moment which is without either belief or non-belief. It is important for a person to question all challenges to the intellect and to neither accept nor reject, but to allow the truth to be revealed out of emptiness of the moment. It is a kind of common sense that is without position or opposition. When the mind is still, that is it is timeless, then the outcome is peace and freedom. Then a persons actions come from a place of peace and are not seeking to dispute or to affirm but to allow. To allow is to see without the self that is lost in a sea of opinion and conclusion. In the moment a person can look without prejudice and question without a position.

It is necessary to negate that which comes from conflict and fear. When a person has a position their is necessarily opposition which creates conflict. Position and opposition are one in the same. It is the duality of a self that knows. People create agendas out of fear, which is the self perpetuating desire to validate belief in order to escape fear. Fear which is the outcome and product of ones illusion of knowing and defining. Many people perceive negation as a position in its self. But the kind of negation that we are referring to is negation as a vehicle to truth. Negation in the illuminated sense is not negative or positive. But rather it is the letting go of all that hinders one from realizing the nature of the true self and with that seeing through the illusion of self knowing. The mind is constantly defining, remaining in a stagnation of thought that leads one in a circle of fear and conflict. A person needs to break through the minds conditioning, its consciousness of repeated conflict.

Once you have realized that you are being programed by your own desire and that what you seek only perpetuates that desire, then you can negate in a manner that allows freedom to take hold of your consciousness. Within that freedom is the illumination of the unknown and undefined. Having realized this it is now possible for you to live as the undefined. Nothing can touch the unknown and undefined because it is without form or function, but it is the only true reality. To live in that reality is to be without conflict and fear.

Seeing The Truth Through Relationship

We all exist in relationship. Everyone one on the planet has a relationship with every other living person. What ever we do or say eventually affects existence as a whole. Because we are all essentially the world, we are the totality of all that has been or will ever be. If we live timelessly then we can realize the whole. We can live a life of integration and understanding. But it takes a new perspective to realize the whole. That perspective must be grounded in a consciousness that has put aside its conditioning as a separated individual, an entity that is identified with the division of the religious, political and social. The process of thinking of thought is division. It is the mathematics of logical inference, of trying to find the whole by "knowing" its parts. But the whole is always much more than the sum total of its parts. Because we exist in relationship to all that is, it reflects the truth. If one knows how to look at relationship then it is possible to see something of the self that no one can reveal to you. It is within and only you can realize it. If you can realize in that moment, then that moment changes you. It is not the superficial change of religion or "spirituality", but the change of freedom and understanding.

People spend their lives trying to find. They search and experiment with every type of religious or spiritual method. They read, go to seminars, listen to speech's by so called experts. Yet they are still essentially the same, they have not found anything that transforms, that brings true peace and joy. Maybe in searching, what you always find is just the essence of desiring, which is truly the illusion of something to be found. Perhaps you don't find "it", but "it" finds you. The house must be in order for the uninvited to come in. If it is invited then it is only a projection of desire aided by those who create and support the illusion of having acquired. You are complete, nothing needs to be added. Everything that you do by trying to add to your existing beliefs only complicates and confuses an already overloaded consciousness. It only adds further conditioning to a mind that longs to be free of its self created bondage. You can see all this in relationship. Relationship tells us who we are and where we are at in terms of the truly spiritual. The word spiritual can be misleading. If you think of spiritual in terms of your adventures in attempting to find some satisfying mystical experience then you have missed the boat. The truly spiritual is without definition and cannot be found in a book or a teaching by a shaman, priest, guru or any other person that professes to know. If you want to realize the truth then look at your relationships with people and they will tell you where you truly are spiritually. By doing this you may realize it is more important to get rid of all the psychological baggage that you have accumulated over the years, than to be adding to it. Baggage just complicates your life unnecessarily and keeps you in a tailspin of conflict. People feel that they must find something that leads them in the right direction. What they don't realize is that searching and trying to find is the problem. Their is really nothing to be found, only the teachings of those who misdirect and profit from ignorance. So let it all go and realize the freedom of the moment in which their is the love and peace of the undivided.

That Illusive Freedom

We were talking about freedom. They wanted to have freedom as a concept to be arrived at, a state of mind that would allow them to accomplish unity and peace. I said how will you arrive and what is the basis for a state of peace? Can the mind that is in illusion ever realize peace that is not a concept based on knowing? In order for a person to be totally free, because you are either totally free or not free at all, one needs to realize the origin of all that creates the need for attachment and identification. It is difficult because the mind is consumed and obsessed with its desire and need for a defined reality. To define is to create conceptual limitation. The conceptual breaks down unity and integration into the calculated disintegration of a mind that interprets what is through the illusion of what was (the known). Unless you can see this clearly in the moment then ones understanding will be superficial. To see in the moment means experiencing that is not tied to knowledge as belief. So it is never experience, it is experiencing, which is always in the absolute moment. Anything else is the complexity of minds need to understand through comparison, conclusion and ultimately reaction based on its own projected self illusion.

The mind wants to attach its self to some belief so that it can escape into some future state of peace and unity. But that future state never really comes, because their is always another thing to be accomplished that will move one along in the quest for the spiritual. One must see that this activity is the breeding of self illusion. It is minds way of escaping by projecting the fantasy of the desired. We create this fantasy through our association with religious practices and those who we give authority to. Freedom and unity can only be realized through the negation of what it is we think we know. All must be negated so that the truth of the moment can be realized. It is not outside yourself. To look within and find the origin of all conflict is the beginning of illumination that goes beyond all that is outside the self. To go beyond all concepts of the spiritual.

A person must understand that true freedom is not freedom from something, it is rather an acceptance, that is the release of all that binds one to knowing and the known. Belief in a self that knows is the beginning of the ignorance of self illusion. A person must realize that this state of ignorance is the result of seeking that has lead one to be drugged and brainwashed into a stupor of religious, social and political apathy. It is what causes a person to be trapped in a self adjusting psyche that blindly justifies its beliefs no matter the reality. To be totally free is to realize that one is brainwashed by all of ones accumulations. To be free is to jump into the unknown without a parachute of belief or reliance on any deity. It is very difficult, but in the end it is what brings one to a place of total peace. With this peace comes understanding that is not the result of what you have learned or been taught. Total freedom is not easy. It means giving up all that you are identified with, all you investments in life, especially the religious. It takes a person who questions everything. A person who has come to a place of exhaustion with all self induced conflict. A catalyst that finally breaks you free and makes you see the folly of all that you believe in.

With total freedom, comes total responsibility, they are one in the same. That responsibility is not one of a religious or political nature. It is a responsibility to ensure that one emanates peace and love to all existence. A person has to be careful, total freedom is formidable, nothing can touch it. It is immune to Karmic law and all the practices of human illusion. Total freedom is not illumination, but it is the door to that realization which is moment to moment.
